What is MOST?
MOST is a safe online mental health support service for young people aged 12-25.
We know life is full of ups and downs and you can’t predict when you might need extra support.
MOST has been built with this in mind. It’s designed to support you at every stage of your mental health journey.
This could be before your first appointment with a mental health care professional, during or in between your in-person sessions or even after your in-person care has ended.
What can you expect on MOST?
Researchers, clinicians, engineers, creative writers, artists and young people with lived experience of mental ill-health have worked together to make MOST a warm and inviting platform that delivers effective mental health care for young people.
There are two versions of MOST, one for under 15s and one for over 15s. Both versions have the same key features.
Real support from real people
We know how important it is to have someone in your corner when you need it. That’s why human support is a key part of MOST.
Our MOST clinicians, peer workers and career consultants are all here to help.
- MOST clinicians are qualified mental health professionals just like the ones you see in person. Our MOST clinicians can help you navigate the platform and work with you to explore the therapeutic content to find the best topics for you. They can also help you establish goals on and off the platform.
- Peer workers are young people with lived experience of mental health challenges. They are specially trained to support other young people through their recovery. Peer workers provide support on the Community and can provide 1:1 support via DMs.
- Career consultants can be found on the over 15 MOST platform. They are qualified career practitioners that provide work, study and career support no matter where you’re at in your career journey.
Tailored therapy journeys
Our therapy journeys can help you learn effective strategies to manage your mental health and other life challenges.
They cover topics like anxiety, depression, social skills and social anxiety, sleep, body image, navigating the mental health system and much more.
We know everyone’s brains work differently, which is why the content in journeys comes in a variety of formats: activities, articles, videos, audio tracks and cartoons.
You can work through journeys at your own pace with the freedom to start or stop at any time.
A safe, supportive community
MOST has a built-in social network called the Community. It’s a safe, welcoming network of young people who get it, making it a great place to connect with others who have had similar experiences and vent thoughts or feelings.
Our peer workers monitor the community to keep everyone safe. They also provide support, encouragement and advice when you need it
Personalised toolkit
The toolkit is a shortcut to your own personalised collection of strategies you enjoy and find helpful.
As you go through the content on MOST, you can save activities and tracks to your toolkit so you can access them at the tap of a button.
Frequently asked questions
MOST is 100% free.
If you’re aged 15-25 in Victoria, Queensland or the Australian Capital Territory, you can sign yourself up to MOST.
If you’re aged 12-14, or live in New South Wales or Western Australia, you’ll need a referral from a participating youth mental health service to sign up to MOST.
Those aged 12-14 will need parental consent before signing up.
You can login to MOST via your web browser or the MOST app which is available to download from Google Play and the Apple App store.
If you’ve been referred to MOST by a participating youth mental health service, you’ll be sent a sign up link via SMS. Follow the prompts to complete the sign up process.
There is a free app for the 15+ platform. You can download it from the Google Play or Apple App stores.
We need to know who to contact if we’re ever concerned about your safety.
We share this information with your face-to-face clinician and the service they work in, so that we can all support you in the best way possible.
In rare cases, if we think you or someone else are at risk of being seriously hurt, we may need to pass on these details to external services who can help.
Where possible we will let you know if our concerns reach the point where we need to involve other services.
You can request support from a MOST clinician via the messages tab.
Everyone who joins MOST will also have the option to speak to a clinician as part of the onboarding process.
MOST clinicians can help you navigate the platform and connect you with the tools and supports that will best suit your needs.
Every young person who joins MOST will have the opportunity to speak to a MOST clinician.
We’ll use your answers from the sign-up questionnaire to understand what support you need and how urgently you may need to speak to a MOST clinician.
If your answers tell us you need extra support, a MOST clinician may call you on the number you’ve used to sign-up. We do this to ensure you’re safe and that MOST is working for you.
If your answers tell us you may not need as extra support as urgently, you will be given the option to opt out of the call with a MOST clinician.
If you opt out of the call, you can always connect with a MOST clinician down the track via the messages tab.
If you’re aged 12-14, we’ll also connect with your parent or carer as part of this process.
There’s no obligation to use the community.
It’s there if you feel like venting, sharing, or getting some social interaction, but we know it’s not for everyone.
There are also trigger warnings on community posts that may have some sensitive information, so you can choose what you see if you decide to explore the community page.
You can access the career consultants via a referral from a MOST clinician or peer worker.
You’ll also see them posting content in the Community.
No, you cannot directly message other young people on MOST.
You can communicate with other young people on the platform through the community feature, by commenting, or by posting something directly on the person’s wall.
This is so we can monitor conversations to ensure you and the people you’re talking to are safe.
No, your parents cannot see what you share on MOST.
